November Highlight II - Kaqchikel Investigation

We also spent several days in Kaqchikel Investigation. Now what that means is that we spend several days studying satellite maps of the area trying to get a feel of the layout. We study the information we can find on the area - population, aldeas (small communities around the municipio), and any other information we can find. Then the day of the travel, complete with our printed study, we begin to travel.

One particular interesting day is chronicled below:
Exiting the major east-west highway corridor, we entered the smallest of the municipios of the department Chimaletenango, Santa Cruz Balanya

and found several churches like this one large Central American Mission church. We visited with the pastor's wife and hope to attend church here on Sunday in the near future. This muncipio has many churches and opportunities to hear the Gospel.

Reentering the highway we passed beautiful fields...

and entered in to the area around Santo Apolania and again finding many churches along the road. Many of these churches preached the truth of salvation by faith alone...some preach salvation by works...some preach a syncretism, a mixture of truth and error. Some are small with only 10 or 15 people in attendance; some are large with several hundred attending the worship services. Some are beautiful and well maintained; others are not. Some have schools and offer a Christian education; others can barely maintain a building.

Along the way, we found some with interesting names...

Evangelical Church - Rock of Salvation, Defenders of the Faith

Evangelical Church - Door to the Heaven

Evangelical Church - Jesus Christ is my Doctor

Evangelical Church, Central American Mission - Jesus Saves

Passing through small aldeas and through San Jose Poaquil we made a circle through Comalapa to Zaragoza to re-enter to the major highwayand on home. And although the road left much to be desired, the flowers against the bright blue sky were beautiful.

Then within in sight of Comalapa, we see the bridge into the town is being replaced...so we have to back travel (about 15 minutes) to another road and travel with the other traffic into town.

We were able to continure on the way home...a day full of travel and investigation...about 6 hours of driving and bouncing along with some gorgeous views.

Thanks so much for giving to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering which has provided our four wheel drive, comfortable (with shocks) truck!

Remember to give this year to LMCO and continue His work around the world. Many are dying to hear the Gospel...literally.
