All along the way, God provides just when we have needs. Every time we have come to a place where we don't know where to turn, God has provided people to direct and help.
At this one particular place, the help even came in some English directions. This young man taught English at the school in the background. He was very excited to practice his English skills with David.
Signs like this on many of the schools emphasized the importance of education for the future of the children of Guatemala.
Even in the most remote places we found TIGO signs beside the trail. TIGO is cell phone service...Q100 ($12.50) for approximately 100 minutes. But love those TRIPLE days when you get triple time for the same price of Q100!
Entertainment is found for some even in the remote areas...
But one more realistic sign of the area is found in this picture...
note the entrance of the electric wires going into the home. Safety issues anyone?

Fauna and Flora along the wayside...
It is interesting to see the animals and trees and flowers along the wayside as we travel...enjoy some we have seen in Olopa recently.
Baby mangos...
Baby coffee plants shaded by bananas which produce a secondary crop for harvest...
"Thanksgiving" dinner or just dinner one day?
Why are you disturbing my morning?
Beautiful day in the neighborhood...
Do you see me now?
Morning...Glory
Beautiful morning glories dotted the wayside, but this shot is my favorite...blooming out of the dust
Bloom vibrantly where you are planted today.

Riding the roads around Olopa...
We returned east the end of last week for several days. As we started riding the roads, we were again overwhelmed at the beauty of the area.

It's that time of the year...
It's that time of the year when the fields are burning, getting ready to be planted. It thickens the air, dusts the air, blows in all the windows, and falls where ever it desires. How soon to the rainy season?! Sweet promise of rain.

God's Promise for the Ch'orti'
Psalm 113:7,8
He raiseth up the poor out of the dust, and lifeth the needy out of the dunghill; that he may set him with princes, even with the princes of his people.
Psalm 113:7,8 (Spanish)
El levanta del polvo al pobre, y all menesteroso alza del muladar, para hacerlos sentar con los prÃncipes, con los prÃncipes de su pueblo.

Continue PRAYERwalking with us...
This journey is perhaps one of my favorites. It is a long tedious journey taking about 7 hours but it keeps coming back to my mind and heart. There is such need in this area...such need. The early part of the journey finds several churches scattered along the way but the further back you travel the greater the need...no churches...no Bible studies...no Gospel witness. Who will go? Who will rise to take the Gospel?
As you leave the major road and travel past the school bilding pray again for the education of children. It is costly to educate the children but it will reap great reward for all the population...being able to read to the Bible and share the TRUTH with family and friends. Pray for a desire to learn.
Several churches are located along the way. Pray for the Truth to be given boldly bringing conviction of sin and unrighteousness causing many to place their faith in Jesus alone for salvation.
Pray for the encouragement and growth of the believers to be strengthened in knowledge of the Word and fortified for service.
Turn right at La Marimba and travel about a kilometer praying especially for Pastor Rigoberto Garcia who is discouraged. Pray for a fresh outpouring of the Spirit on the dry lands. Pray for men to rise up to be leaders and men of God.
As you return back to the road, pray for the people along the road to desire the Bread of Life.
Continuing the journey, pray for the Spirit to rain down and satisfy the inner spiritual longings. Many don't even know for Whom or why they long. Pray for Knowledge and Truth.
Pray for the evil one to be bound from the hearts of these people.
Pray for Dos Quebrados and that solid spiritual work would grow and transform the lives of the people in this area.
Coming to Nearer, pray for the binding of error mixed with Truth. Pray that Light of the Gospel would shine brighter casting out the darkness of deception.
Pray for the growth of belivers in Rodeo. Pray that their witness would be strong and bring their friends and neighbors to righteous faith.
Pray in faith believing for this final area. This 20 kilometer loop has no Gospel witness.
Pray for strongholds to be brought down and that the Gospel will enter in Boldness bringing salvation to those who hear and receive.
Pray for two young boys we met while here. Pray they will hear the Gospel and believe and that they would be a strong light in their family.
Till ALL may know...

A Sister for ALL Eternity
Virginia Miller Weimer went to be with the Lord on Monday, March 1. Of the ten Miller siblings, she was third oldest of my five sisters and four brothers. She lived in Tampa, Florida where for many years she served as a leader in Bible Study Fellowship and Christian Women’s Club. Her final years were challenging, first losing her husband Joe following several years of sickness and then experiencing her own declining health for the past several years. Through all these years, she never ceased to be a faithful sharer of the Gospel and one who continually confirmed the reality of the promise, “My grace is sufficient for thee.” She exits this life with a good testimony. She has begun to enjoy the blessings of eternity, a joy she anticipated. We sorrow, but not as those who have no hope.
And we who remain are not far behind.

A picture says it best...
Often I mention...
***pickups that carry people back and forth up the mountains...
***driving the mountains in four wheel drive...
Oh, this one is even better - right after we took this picture and rounded the curve a semi carrying two cement telephone poles was coming up the road. That entailed David backing up the road and around the curve...
obviously I let him drive :)
***ground that grows rocks...
***we can see forever...
This one is really neat because as you look on the mountainside ahead, you can see some of the white road outlines we have traveled snaking up the opposite mountain.
